This bill establishes guaranteed contract terms for high school coaches in New Jersey public school districts. Head coaches (who are tenured district employees or out-of-district hires) receive three-year contracts, while assistant coaches receive two-year contracts. Coaches can only be dismissed during their contract term for "just cause," not arbitrarily, and must receive written notice within five days of any dismissal or pay reduction. They are also entitled to a hearing before the school board within 10 days of receiving notice, with the district covering court reporter costs.
