A 2189 New Jersey General Assembly · 2024-2025 Regular Session

Requires DOT to publish information concerning vertical clearances of certain bridges overpassing certain waterways.

This bill requires New Jersey's Department of Transportation (DOT) to create and maintain an online database showing the vertical clearance for bridges that carry highways over waterways used by boats, including canoes and kayaks. Vertical clearance is defined as the distance from the lowest point of a bridge to the highest water level during high tide. Municipalities and counties responsible for inspecting these bridges must submit clearance data to the DOT within 14 days after an inspection, and the DOT must update the database within 14 days of receiving each report. The database will be published on the DOT's official website for public access.
