CURE Act

The CURE Act prohibits federal agencies from using an individual's past use of marijuana as a reason to deny security clearances or determine suitability for federal employment. The bill requires each agency to create a public process within one year of enactment to review clearance and employment denials made on or after January 1, 2008. If an affected individual requests a review, the agency must reassess the decision within 90 days to confirm whether it was based solely on past marijuana use.
