relative to the right of intercollegiate student-athletes to earn compensation through the use of their name, image, or likeness.

HB 312, the "New Hampshire Fair Play Act," allows student-athletes at New Hampshire's 4-year colleges to earn money from their name, image, or likeness (NIL) without losing scholarships or athletic eligibility. It prohibits schools from blocking such compensation, requiring them to disclose any conflicts if athletes sign NIL contracts, and banning earnings from gambling, tobacco, alcohol, or adult entertainment. Athletes must use licensed legal representation for NIL deals, and schools may still use athletes' images for marketing without paying them. The law applies to all full-time college athletes in New Hampshire and takes effect September 1, 2025.
