relative to the Selective Service Compliance Act.

HB 55, titled the Selective Service Registration Awareness and Compliance Act, would have established that individuals aged 18 and older must be in compliance with the federal Military Selective Service Act to be eligible for employment by the state or any of its political subdivisions. Compliance could be demonstrated by authorizing the Department of Safety to submit information to the Selective Service System. The bill included exceptions for those whose registration requirement had terminated, those who had served in the military, or those with conditions precluding military service. However, these requirements would not have applied to state-supported higher education institutions or related financial aid decisions.
