Creates the Nevada Office of the Inspector General. (BDR 18-334)

AB 154 creates the Nevada Office of the Inspector General (OIG), an independent agency to investigate fraud, waste, abuse, and corruption in state agencies and local governments. It establishes the OIG’s structure, including appointing an Inspector General (by the Governor from a Legislative Commission list) for a 4-year term, and requires state/local entities to cooperate with OIG investigations. The bill prohibits retaliation against whistleblowers who report misconduct and makes obstruction of the OIG or retaliation a category E felony. The OIG must submit quarterly reports to the Governor and Legislative Counsel Bureau, and operates through a new special fund.
