Change provisions of the Judges Retirement Act

Contribution rates were changed from a single rate to a tiered system based on service start dates and benefit limits. Judges serving before July 1, 2015, generally contribute 6% or 8%, while those serving after July 1, 2015, contribute 9% or 5% depending on whether they have reached the maximum benefit base limit.

The effective date for the new contribution structure was set to July 1, 2026, creating a transition period where judges serving after July 1, 2015, contribute 10% until that date.

The bill clarifies that after reaching the maximum benefit limit, judges must continue contributing at a reduced rate (4% or 5%) for the remainder of their active service.

Formatting and structural changes were made to align the text with the Revised Statutes Supplement, 2025, including renumbering of subsections.
