Requiring fingerprint-based background checks for massage therapy licensure

This bill requires massage therapy applicants in Montana to provide fingerprints for state and federal criminal background checks as part of the licensure process. The law also allows the Montana Department of Justice to share fingerprint data with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and permits background checks during license renewals. Starting July 1, 2025, anyone applying for a massage therapy license must pay fees associated with these checks, while existing licensees renewing their credentials may also be subject to the same fingerprinting requirement.
