Removed the offense of interference with a first responder, which previously made it a class A misdemeanor to approach within 25 feet of a first responder who had been warned not to approach.

Added a compensation program providing up to one hundred thousand dollars to survivors of public safety officers killed in the line of duty.

Added new definitions for various public safety roles including air ambulance personnel, flight crew members, and specific categories of public safety officers eligible for compensation.

Established eligibility criteria requiring death to result from accident, illness, or violence with a relationship to duty performance, occurring within 300 weeks of injury or illness.

Added a one-year deadline for survivors to file compensation claims with the division of workers' compensation from the date of death.
