Mississippi Recall Act of 2026; enact.

SB 2350, the "Mississippi Recall Act of 2026," would establish a formal process for voters to remove local elected or appointed officials (county or municipal) from office. It requires at least 35% of voters from the last election in that official's district to sign a petition, prohibits paid petition circulation, and bans recall attempts within the first 180 days or final six months of an official's term. The bill also defines "grounds" for recall as conduct "adversely affecting office administration or public interests," and would replace Mississippi’s existing recall procedures. The bill died in committee on February 3, 2026, and has not become law.
