HB 643 required all Mississippi public and charter school classrooms to display the Ten Commandments by January 1, 2027, on an 11x14 inch framed poster with the text in large font. It mandated that the display include a historical context statement about the Ten Commandments' role in American education. The bill also directed the State Department of Education to identify free resources for schools to comply. This legislation died in committee on February 3, 2026, and did not become law.
