The bill's purpose was expanded beyond intergovernmental support agreements to also amend Section 73-15-21 (LPN licensure), adding a new pathway for military medics to obtain LPN licenses.
A new subsection (2) creates an alternative qualification path for LPN licensure: military personnel who completed training as an Army Combat Medic Specialist, Navy Hospital Corpsman, Air Force Aerospace Medical Service Specialist, or Coast Guard Health Services Technician may apply for the LPN exam after completing two years of clinical experience involving direct patient care, which may include trauma or emergency oriented care.
The original Section 2 (effective date clause) was replaced with the full amended text of Section 73-15-21, and the effective date clause was moved to a new Section 3. The remainder of the recodified section (subsections 1, 3 through 12) appears to be existing statutory language being restated as part of the amendment.
