Early voting; authorize up to 20 days before any election.

SB 2645 would allow Mississippi voters to cast ballots up to 20 days before an election at their county registrar's office, starting 20 days prior and ending at noon on the Saturday before election day. Voters would need to present photo ID, sign a receipt book, and cast ballots in the same manner as on election day, with all early votes being final and announced simultaneously with election day results. The bill requires candidates to have the same ability to challenge voter qualifications during early voting as on election day and directs the Secretary of State to create implementing rules. This proposal would have taken effect on July 1, 2025, but it died in committee in February 2025.
