Mississippi Resident Tuition Assistance and Promise Grant Program; create to provide financial assistance to students.

SB 2529 establishes the Mississippi Career Promise Grant Program to provide last-dollar financial aid (after other aid is applied) for Mississippi residents enrolled in certificate or associate degree programs at public community colleges. It targets students pursuing credentials in high-demand fields identified by the Office of Workforce Development (AccelerateMS), such as nursing, electrical work, vehicle mechanics, and industrial maintenance. To qualify, students must be Mississippi residents, complete FAFSA and MAAPP applications, maintain a 2.5 GPA, enroll half-time, and commit to two years of employment in Mississippi within their field after graduation. Failure to fulfill the employment commitment requires repayment of the grant funds.
