Advanced practice registered nurses; revise provisions relating to the collaborative relationship requirement.

HB 1357 revises Mississippi's nursing law to change requirements for advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs), including nurse practitioners and nurse anesthetists. It allows APRNs (except certified nurse anesthetists) to work independently after completing 5,000 clinical hours under a collaborative relationship with a doctor, and nurse anesthetists after 8,000 hours. The bill also prohibits doctors from charging APRNs for their collaborative role and permits using pre-enactment hours toward the requirement. The bill died in committee on February 4, 2025, and is not currently law.
