HB 1247 transitions Mississippi's Dyslexia Education Forgivable Loan Program into a loan repayment program administered by the Mississippi Postsecondary Education Financial Assistance Board. It provides up to $6,000 annually for three years to licensed dyslexia therapists who hold a master's degree in dyslexia therapy from an approved school, work full-time in Mississippi public/charter schools or approved nonpublic schools, and have qualifying educational loans not in default. Eligibility requires Mississippi residency, a current educator's license with dyslexia therapy designation, and full-time employment meeting specific state criteria. The program operates on a first-come, first-served basis with a cap of 20 participants per year.
