SB 238 Michigan Senate · 2025-2026 Regular Session

Natural resources: hunting; pheasant hunting licensing; extend sunset. Amends sec. 43525c of 1994 PA 451 (MCL 324.43525c).

Senate Bill 238 extends the expiration date for Michigan's pheasant hunting license requirement and its associated pheasant subaccount. Currently, many individuals aged 18 or older must purchase a $25 annual license to hunt pheasants, with some exceptions. The fees from these licenses are deposited into a dedicated subaccount, which funds the purchase and release of live pheasants on state-owned land. This bill moves the sunset date for both the license requirement and the subaccount's operation from January 1, 2026, to January 1, 2031.
