Elections: candidates; affidavit of identity provision for partisan office candidates; clarify. Amends sec. 558 of 1954 PA 116 (MCL 168.558).

Added requirement that candidates nominated at political party conventions or caucuses must file an affidavit of identity with the Secretary of State within one business day after nomination, with exceptions for President and Vice President candidates.

Modified affidavit content requirements to clarify that candidates for nonpartisan offices are not required to indicate political party affiliation or lack thereof.

Added requirement for judicial candidates to specify whether their position is incumbent, nonincumbent, or a new judgeship on their affidavit.

Added requirement for precinct delegate candidates to include their precinct number on the affidavit.

Modified name change exemption rules to clarify that the requirement to indicate a name change does not apply to names changed due to marriage, divorce (to a previously known legal name), naturalization (at least 10 years before filing), formal name changes (at least 10 years before filing), or common law names.

Modified forwarding requirements for affidavits to clarify that county clerks must forward copies of affidavits for state and federal candidates to the Secretary of State.
