Courts: district court; Oakland County district court seats; modify. Amends sec. 8123 of 1961 PA 236 (MCL 600.8123).

A new subsection (7) allows the forty-eighth district to keep 3 judges instead of being reduced to 2, but only if every district control unit in that district approves maintaining the 3rd judgeship using the same approval process required for adding a judgeship under section 8175(1) and (2).

The forty-eighth district's judge count provision now includes the qualifier 'subject to subsection (7),' making the reduction to 2 judges conditional on local control units not approving its continuation.

Former subsections (7), (8), and (9) are renumbered as (8), (9), and (10) to accommodate the new subsection (7). No substantive changes to those provisions.

The document title and header were updated to reflect the bill as passed by the House, and page numbering/formatting was adjusted.

Minor text corrections were made, such as fixing a typo in the enacting clause ('peoplE' to 'people') and adjusting line breaks for readability.
