Education: meals; certain substances served in school foods; prohibit. Amends 2000 PA 92 (MCL 289.1101 - 289.8111) by adding sec. 7134.

The effective date for the food restrictions was delayed from July 1, 2026, to July 1, 2028, providing schools additional preparation time.

Titanium dioxide was added to the list of prohibited food additives, expanding the restrictions beyond the original three ingredients.

The entity subject to the food additive restrictions changed from 'a school' to 'a food establishment distributor that distributes, sells, or otherwise provides food to a school for use in a school meal program'.

The prohibition now applies to food distributors rather than schools, requiring distributors to ensure the food they supply does not contain restricted additives like brominated vegetable oil, potassium bromate, propylparaben, or specific food dyes.

Changed the obligation from distributors to distributors to schools to prohibit specific food additives in school meals.

Added Propylparaben to the list of prohibited additives in school meals.

Added Red 40, Green 3, Blue 1, Blue 2, and Yellow 6 to the list of prohibited food dyes in school meals.

Expanded the list of prohibited dyes from two colors (Red 40, Green 3) to five colors (Red 40, Green 3, Blue 1, Blue 2, Yellow 6).
