HB 5938 Michigan House · 2023-2024 Regular Session

Insurance: health insurers; methods of payments and reimbursements for dental benefits; provide for. Amends 1956 PA 218 (MCL 500.100 - 500.8302) by adding sec. 3406kk).

This bill requires health plans and nonprofit dental corporations in Michigan to offer payment methods that give dentists 100% of their covered fees without charging them any access fees. The rule applies to policies issued, delivered, or renewed in the state after the law takes effect, though it does not cover fees charged by the dentist's own bank. Dentists who choose not to use these new payment options can keep their current arrangements until they decide to switch back or sign a new contract.
