An Act to establish a recall procedure for elective town offices in the town of Monterey

HD 4454 establishes a process for Monterey residents to recall elected town officials. Registered voters (30 minimum) can start a recall by submitting a petition signed by 15% of the town's registered voters. If verified, the Select Board must hold a recall election within 64-90 days (or combine it with an existing election), requiring a majority "for" the recall to remove the official. The ballot asks voters to choose "FOR" or "AGAINST" the recall, followed by voting for candidates to fill the position if the recall passes. This process cannot be initiated within six months of an official's term start or after a previous recall election where they were not removed.
