This bill allows families of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty to receive free special license plates or emblems for their vehicles. Eligible relatives include parents, children, siblings, grandchildren, and spouses, provided the deceased officer's family qualifies for specific state benefits. The registrar will issue these "Blue Star Family" plates upon receipt of proof that the officer died while performing their duties. The measure creates a new registration category for private passenger cars and offers an emblem option for motorcycles owned by these grieving family members.
