An Act to clarify the charitable purposes of certain organizations

This bill amends Massachusetts law to clarify liability limits for certain charitable organizations. It limits the financial liability of charities (corporations, trusts, or associations) in tort lawsuits to $20,000 if: (1) the harm occurred during activities directly tied to their charitable purpose, and (2) the organization receives over 50% of its income from charitable gifts or donations. The change applies only when the tort is connected to the charity's core mission, not general operations. This affects charities meeting both criteria, capping their potential damages in qualifying cases.
