An Act authorizing the city of Pittsfield to award a 1 year or multiple year contract to audit

This bill authorizes the city of Pittsfield to hire an external certified public accountant to audit its financial records. It allows the city council to award a one-year or multi-year contract for these services by September 15 of the contract year, with the audit report due by March 1 the following year. Additionally, the law requires the city to conduct a competitive bidding process for these audit services at least once every five years. Existing audit contracts in place before the bill takes effect remain valid and enforceable.
