This bill allows certain documents in Louisiana to be notarized using simultaneous video calls instead of requiring in-person meetings. It applies to individuals who are already known to the notary or at least one of the two witnesses present during the video session. Under the new rules, the notary must hold the original signed document while participating in the call, and all parties must explicitly confirm the signature's authenticity during the transmission. The law also requires the final acknowledgment to state that the process was conducted via video with the notary, two witnesses, and the signer all participating together.
