MTR VEHICLE/INSPECTION: Provides with respect to vehicle inspection stickers (OR +$139,994 SG RV See Note)

HB 838 proposes an election to decide whether Louisiana will discontinue the requirement for vehicle inspection stickers. If approved by voters, the state would remove the sticker mandate for most vehicles, while repealing the existing sticker requirement for assembled vehicles. The bill maintains current rules for periodic inspections of commercial vehicles and student transportation vehicles, as well as requirements for inspection stations to offer one- or two-year certificates. This is a proposed bill (prefiled February 2026) that would change policy only if voters approve discontinuing stickers.
