SCHOOLS: Provides relative to incidents of assault and battery on students and school employees (EN INCREASE LF EX See Note)

Added Representatives Boyd, Bryant, Freeman, Green, Dana Henry, Lafleur, Terry Landry, Larvadin, Marcelle, Martinez, Miller, Murray, Owen, Phelps, and Taylor to the list of bill sponsors.

Updated the list of statutes being amended and enacted to include R.S. 17:15(A)(1)(b)(iii) and R.S. 17:416(A)(1)(b)(i), while removing R.S. 17:416(A)(1)(c)(vii)(aa) and (cc) from the amendment list as they are now being enacted anew.

Added a new provision stating that negligent hiring statutes do not apply to disputes involving schools that have hired certified administrators, teachers, or coaches.

Added a new provision granting teachers and school employees the right to take disciplinary action against students and prohibiting retaliation against them for doing so.

Added a requirement for schools to annually notify teachers and school employees of their rights to take disciplinary action and their eligibility for sick leave in the event of an injury caused by a student.

Modified the definition of covered incidents to include off-campus altercations if they are a continuation of a documented altercation that began on school property.

Added a provision clarifying that sick leave provisions apply specifically to injuries resulting from assaults or batteries against teachers.
