FUNDS/FUNDING: Provides for the imposition of fines for driving offenses (EN INCREASE SD RV See Note)

Fines collected for driving offenses are now deposited into the Louisiana Response Network Fund instead of the Louisiana Emergency Response Network Fund.

Fine amounts for operating while impaired have increased based on the number of prior offenses: $25 for a first offense, $50 for a second, $100 for a third, and $250 for a fourth or subsequent offense.

Fine amounts for reckless operation of a vehicle have increased: $5 for a first offense and $10 for a second or subsequent offense.

Fine amounts for speeding violations have increased to $5 per violation.

The agency responsible for forwarding collected fines to the state treasurer has changed from the sheriff to the clerk of court.

The entity responsible for forwarding fine collections changed from the 'clerk of court' to the 'sheriff' for second, third, fourth, and subsequent impaired driving offenses, as well as for reckless driving and speeding violations.
