SSB 1123 allows Iowa courts to immediately suspend child and medical support payments when a juvenile court places a child's custody or physical care with the parent who owes the support (the obligor). It creates a streamlined process: the obligor can apply for suspension using a court form (requiring county, docket number, and date), and the suspension takes effect the day the court approves it. The bill also requires courts to schedule a hearing within seven days if someone objects to the suspension within 15 days. The Supreme Court must create a standard application form for this process.
