HB 158 prohibits minors under 18 from attending drag shows at businesses, defined as performances where performers use clothing, makeup, or other gender signifiers to exhibit a gender identity different from their birth sex for entertainment. Adults who knowingly bring minors to such events face criminal penalties, and businesses hosting drag shows with minors present must pay $10,000 in fines per minor. State agencies using public funds for drag shows would also be fined $10,000 per minor, and parents can sue for civil damages ranging from $10,000 to $50,000 per violation. The law applies broadly to all "places of business," including nonprofits and venues open to the public.
