HF 22 Iowa House · 2025-2026 Regular Session

A bill for an act relating to the allocation of nonresident deer hunting licenses and including effective date provisions.

HF 22 sets new rules for Iowa's nonresident deer hunting licenses. It reserves 600 of the 6,000 annual antlered or any sex licenses specifically for nonresidents who own at least 40 acres of agricultural land in Iowa. If fewer than 600 landowners apply, unused reserved licenses become available to all nonresidents. The bill also limits bow season licenses to 35% of both reserved and general nonresident licenses, and requires all licenses beyond the 6,000 cap to be for antlerless deer only.
