Business Entities, Fraudulent Filings (1419XD) - Secretary of State

This bill creates a process for individuals to remove their personal information - such as name, address, or email - from business entity filings if it was included without their consent. To request removal, an individual must submit a notarized affidavit to the Iowa Secretary of State, detailing the unauthorized use. The Secretary of State will review the affidavit and, if the filing was unauthorized, remove the specified information from the business record without charging a fee. The business entity will be notified that the information has been removed, which may result in it lacking a registered agent or principal office address. This applies to all business entity filings under Iowa law.
