CRIM LAW-CLOUD COMPUTING
Summary
Amends the Criminal Code of 2012. Expands the definition of "computer" to include equipment of cloud-based networks of remote servers hosted on the Internet to store, manage, and process data. Makes the definition of "computer" apply to multiple provisions under the computer fraud subdivision of the Code. House Committee Amendment No. 1 Adds reference to: 720 ILCS 5/11-6.6 720 ILCS 5/11-20.1 from Ch. 38, par. 11-20.1 720 ILCS 5/17-0.5 720 ILCS 5/28-2 from Ch. 38, par. 28-2 Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Criminal Code of 2012. Defines "computer" as a device that accepts, processes, stores, retrieves, or outputs data and includes, but is not limited to, auxiliary storage including cloud-based networks of remote services hosted on the Internet, and telecommunications devices connected to computers for the purposes of solicitation to meet a child, child pornography, unlawful use of encryption, and gambling provisions of the Code. Makes other technical changes.
