TRANSPARENCY IN STATE OFFICIAL TRAVEL – Adds to existing law to require certain state officials to report certain travel paid by others.

H 379 requires statewide elected officials, candidates for statewide office, and officers-elect to report travel paid by others (outside Idaho) for governmental or public policy purposes. Officials must disclose destination, dates, purpose, and the payer’s name/address within 30 days, excluding travel funded by campaign contributions (already reported elsewhere) or personal funds. Failure to report incurs a $25 daily late fee, deposited into the public school fund. The law takes effect July 1, 2025, aiming to increase transparency in state government spending.
