H 135 Idaho House · 68th Legislature, 1st Regular Session (2025)

WELFARE – Amends existing law to remove certain provisions for verification of lawful presence to receive public benefits.

H 135 removes the requirement for Idaho residents to prove legal immigration status when applying for most public benefits. It amends Section 67-7903 of Idaho Code to eliminate verification steps previously needed for adults applying for state or local benefits, streamlining access to assistance. Exceptions remain for emergency medical care, prenatal/postnatal services, and food assistance for children under 18. The law takes effect July 1, 2025, after being signed by the governor.
