Counties are now prohibited from adopting, amending, or enforcing any fire code provision that is less restrictive than the state fire code.
A new State Fire and Life Safety Special Fund is established in the state treasury to support fire code administration, prevention programs, and training.
Appropriations for assistant fire marshals are listed with redacted amounts, and specific line items for fire inspectors and investigators were removed or modified.
The frequency of fire and safety inspections at state facilities by the Office of the State Fire Marshal is limited to once every three years.
The appointment of the State Fire Marshal is changed from a selection commission to direct appointment by the Governor with Senate consent.
The effective date of the Act is set to July 1, 2050.
