MINOR
This bill updates the effective date of the debt deduction provision from the year 3000 to 2050, correcting a likely clerical error. It also adjusts the maximum percentage of an employee's salary that can be deducted for debt repayment from 5% to 25%, significantly increasing the amount employers can withhold. The document metadata was updated to reflect the Senate version of the bill.
Scope change
The bill's applicability remains the same, but the financial impact on employees has increased due to the higher deduction limit.
TIMELINE
The effective date for the debt deduction rules was changed from July 1, 3000, to July 1, 2050.
REQUIREMENT
The maximum percentage of an employee's salary or wages that can be deducted for debt repayment was increased from 5% to 25%.
