Informing the Legislature that on April 23, 2025, the Governor signed the following bill into law: SB602 (ACT 027).

This bill (SB 602, enacted as Act 027) allows Hawaii Public Housing Authority (HPHA) properties to legally close specific areas to the public by posting required signage. It mandates that signs must display "Closed to the Public - No Trespassing" in 2-inch letters, placed at regular intervals along boundaries and entrances. This change enables HPHA to prosecute unauthorized entry as criminal trespass in the second degree, directly affecting public housing residents and properties managed by HPHA. The law applies to all HPHA-owned parcels, housing projects, and facilities, aiming to address issues like vandalism and noise by restricting access to non-residents.
