Summary
Effective 1/1/21: Makes housekeeping amendments to Hawaii's elections laws to clarify and improve the administration of elections by mail; prohibits agents of a candidate from providing voting assistance; changes the deadline to file nomination papers to the first Tuesday in May. Effective upon approval: Allows for the criminal referral of campaign finance law violations in addition to any administrative determination; increases the disqualification period for a person convicted of certain criminal election offenses from holding elective public office; repeals the exclusion of certain persons from criminal prosecution.
