Transfer of Jurisdiction of Portions of U.S. Reservations 343-C and 343-D, S.O. 23-03016, Emergency Approval Resolution of 2025
This bill transfers approximately 165,294 square feet of land and 5,653 square feet of air rights from the National Park Service to the District of Columbia. The land, part of federal reservations 343-C and 343-D along the Anacostia River, will support the 11th Street Bridge Park project. The park, described as the District’s first elevated park, will include playgrounds, urban agriculture spaces, and educational areas connecting Washington Navy Yard to Anacostia Park. The District Department of Transportation will maintain the land before construction using existing budget resources, and the nonprofit organization Building Bridges Across the River will manage the completed park. The transfer is approved on an emergency basis to advance the bridge project.
