Body-Worn Camera Transparency for Use of Force Amendment Act of 2026

This bill expands transparency requirements for body-worn camera footage by requiring the release of recordings when federal law enforcement officers are involved in officer-involved deaths or serious use of force incidents alongside Metropolitan Police Department officers. It mandates that public databases include names of all law enforcement officers involved in such incidents and requires consent from next of kin or alleged victims before releasing footage of officer-involved deaths or serious use of force incidents. Additionally, the legislation requires the MPD to record and share information about federal agents attending daily roll calls, including their names, agency affiliations, and shift assignments, to increase visibility of joint patrols between federal and local law enforcement.
