Driver License and Identification Card Renewal Emergency Amendment Act of 2024
This bill allows the District of Columbia Department of Motor Vehicles to temporarily waive certain renewal requirements for driver's licenses and identification cards if an applicant demonstrates good cause. It gives the department director the authority to decide what evidence is needed to prove such a cause and permits the mayor to adjust standard renewal timeframes through future rules. The law is designed as an emergency measure that will remain in effect for no more than 90 days after approval.
