AN ACT TO AMEND TITLE 25 OF THE DELAWARE CODE RELATING TO RENTERS INSURANCE.

Removed the provision allowing a landlord to initiate coverage from a specific insurer or provider designated or affiliated with the landlord when a tenant failed to maintain required renters insurance. This was the key addition in House Amendment No. 1 that did not survive to the final bill.

The bill's overall purpose shifted from granting landlords a limited right to force tenants into affiliated insurance providers to protecting tenants' freedom to choose their own insurer while still allowing landlords to set minimum coverage standards.

Added Section (a) explicitly prohibiting landlords from requiring tenants to obtain renters insurance from a specific insurer or through a specific provider designated or affiliated with the landlord.

Added Section (c) establishing that any tenant who maintains coverage through any insurer authorized to do business in Delaware and meets the lease coverage requirements is deemed compliant, regardless of which insurer they use.
