AN ACT REVISING THE ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS OF LOAN FORGIVENESS PROGRAMS FOR PHYSICIANS, PHYSICIAN ASSISTANTS AND ADVANCED PRACTICE REGISTERED NURSES TO INCLUDE THOSE EMPLOYED BY FOR-PROFIT HEALTH CARE EMPLOYERS.

SB 844 revises existing loan forgiveness programs to include physicians, physician assistants, and advanced practice registered nurses employed by for-profit health care employers. Currently, these programs typically only covered workers in public or non-profit settings. The bill removes the employer type restriction, allowing professionals working at private hospitals or health care companies to qualify for loan repayment assistance. This change aims to help retain skilled health care workers in the state's workforce, directly benefiting those employed by private health care providers.
