AN ACT REQUIRING A STUDY OF POLICE POLICIES ON WELLNESS CHECKS.

SB 366 requires the state Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection to work with mental health, addiction, and public health agencies to study how police departments (including the State Police and local police) handle wellness checks. The study will examine current policies and procedures for these checks, which are police visits to assess someone's well-being when safety is a concern. The findings must be reported to the legislature, but the bill does not change existing policies or create new requirements.
