AN ACT CONCERNING GRANTS FOR REMOVAL OF PFAS FROM FIRE APPARATUS.
This bill reallocates unused state funds to provide grants and reimbursement for removing PFAS (chemicals used in firefighting foam) from fire apparatus. It directs the Department of Emergency Services to use funds carried over from fiscal year 2025 to help municipalities, independent fire companies, and state agencies cover costs for PFAS removal that occurred before July 1, 2023. The funds cannot lapse on June 30, 2025, and will instead be available for the 2026 fiscal year. The bill focuses on addressing past PFAS contamination in firefighting equipment through financial assistance.
