AN ACT CONCERNING GUIDES ISSUED BY ELECTRIC VEHICLE MANUFACTURERS FOR EXTINGUISHING FIRES IN ELECTRIC VEHICLES.

HB 7118 requires electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers selling vehicles in Connecticut to create and submit fire safety guides specific to each EV model by January 1, 2027. These guides must cover battery fire prevention, chemical reactions, and safe storage procedures after battery damage. Manufacturers must provide these guides to the State Fire Marshal, who will then distribute them to all local fire departments. The bill also updates vehicle manufacturer licensing rules to mandate this requirement through an affidavit for license applicants.
