This bill establishes requirements for health insurers and medical providers in Arizona regarding gender detransition procedures, which involve reversing or stopping a gender transition. Starting in January 2025, insurance contracts covering gender transition must also cover detransition, and providers performing the former must agree to perform the latter. The legislation mandates that insurers submit monthly reports to the state department detailing the number of detransition claims and demographic information while strictly prohibiting the release of any data that could identify the individual. Additionally, state agencies are required to create an expedited process to update official documents, such as licenses and permits, for individuals undergoing detransition. The bill was ultimately vetoed by the Governor and did not become law.
