Permanent Joint Legislative Committee on the Law Enforcement Medal of Honor and Meritorious Service Medal, established

HJR 287 establishes the Permanent Joint Legislative Committee on the Law Enforcement Medal of Honor and Meritorious Service Award. This committee is tasked with annually selecting and awarding these honors to law enforcement officers who demonstrate extraordinary courage and exceptional service in the line of duty. It will consist of ten legislators, five from the House of Representatives and five from the Senate, appointed by their respective leaders, with requirements for minority party representation. The committee will meet at least once a year to conduct its business and will receive administrative support from legislative agencies.
